Help Wanted at the Rainier Emergency Food Center

I am Phyllis Heinselman of the Rainier Emergency Food Center, located at 11318 Vail Cutoff Rd SE.

I’m reaching out for someone, with computer skills, to volunteer
on Wednesday from 9 AM to Noon.

We are the largest food bank in Thurston County. We serve over 180 families a week from 9:30 AM to Noon every Wednesday and Saturday.  We are here to serve the public and make coming here a pleasant experience for our clients, going through a rough time.

This volunteer position would be sitting at the intake desk and entering the clients information into the computer; tracking their visits and commodity bags.  Where this isn’t a difficult job, it is a demanding one.  If you have time and are that special person who would like to help us please contact Nancy Decker at:

(360) 280-7326 Cell or email her at:  nancyd98576@comcast.net

2016 Christmas Party & 50th Wedding Pictures

The Rainier Senior Centers Annual Christmas Party was held the week of Christmas followed by a White Elephant Gift Exchange . It also was the 50th wedding anniversary for two of its members Heinz and Angela Denman.  It was quite a party!

After a wonderful Christmas dinner of ham and all the fixings, prepared by our wonderful cook Teena Scott, the Yelm Prairie Rod Association passed out gifts to each off our members.  Needless to say  we all left full, happy and filled with Christmas cheer!

Cookie Exchange 2016

The Rainier Senior Center was filled with bakers & their families for the Annual Christmas Cookie Exchange!  There were dozens of cookies to choose from!  I've never seen so many cookies in one place!  We all got to sample cookies, before we chose the ones we wanted to take home.  The cookies were not only wonderful eye candy - they tasted great, too!

We had a white elephant gift exchange after people picked cookies to take home.  The gift exchange was a lot of fun.  Georgia was the first person to choose a gift.  Her's was stolen 3 different times, so it was frozen.  She ended up with the apron George and I brought to the exchange.  She gave it to her grand daughter, who loves to bake.

All in all, it was wonderful to see everyone and get a variety of cookies to bring with us to our family Christmas.  They're in the freezer, now!

Rosemary Sanders took the picture below with all of the cookies:
