Halloween at the Rainier Senior Center 2016

The Rainier Senior Center held their annual "Halloween Potluck" Monday.  Several of us dressed up for Halloween.  There was a costume contest.  There were 2 grand prize winners: Bea Carpenter, in her Seahawks costume and a woman in her black cat costume. Darling costumes!

We had quite the potluck!  Jumbolia, crab quiche, meatloaf, meat balls, casseroles, jello salad, creamed potatoes with carrots and peas, potatoes with ham - along with several kinds of desserts.  Angela made a special Halloween birthday cake and pumpkin bars. Thela made fudge and pumpkin spice caramels.  Alice Ames made eyeball cake pops with forks in them.  Spooktacular!

James Daniel Christensen Celebration of Life

The Rainier Senior Center was packed to capacity for Jim's Celebration of Life.  The ladies who work in the kitchen prepared a wonderful buffet lunch for everyone who attended.  Jim will be greatly missed by everyone.

He loved growing dahlias.  This year he planted yellow lilies in his front yard, too.  His children each will receive some of his dahlia bulbs to remember him by.  We all miss you, Jim...

Dick Goldman Memorial Program

The Rainier Senior Center was packed with visitors for Dick Goldman's Memorial on May 11th.  Family and friends talked about Dick and the powerful impact he made on all of our lives.  Dick's daughter, Dede brought a shadow box filled with pictures of Dick's life, showing him from birth until shortly before he passed away.  His hat and tie were on the memorial table, as well as the boots filled with his ashes.

George MC'd the memorial and Dick's grandson, Jerry made a moving speech about his grandfather.  People talked about the impact Dick made on their lives.  Dick's favorite teller from their bank was one of the first people to talk about Dick and how friendly he was.  He always had a welcoming smile on his face.

Dick's Memorial closed with everyone saying "The Lord's Prayer."

We will all miss Dick.  Our love and prayers go out to Dick & his loving and devoted family.
